H. P. Kaysser GmbH + Co. KG, a specialist for metalworking processes, invested in a new powder coating plant to be able to coat more flexibly. Whether small or large workpieces in individual or series production - coating is now more efficient and economical.
The surface properties of a product influence its mechanical, electrical or chemical behaviour. Only a quality-monitored manufacturing process can ensure the desired result - optical measuring methods open up new and interesting possibilities here.
The storage of flammable, explosive or harmful substances in a legally compliant manner is not trivial. With certified storage modules, a lot of effort and energy can be saved here.
Increasingly longer service lives with simultaneous weight savings - especially in the area of long-term corrosion protection, classic coating processes can only partially meet the requirements in the chassis area. Zinc flake technology is a promising alternative here.
In the past, there was no alternative in large-scale automotive production to having body shells enter the paint shop strung on a skid like a string of pearls and, after numerous stations, exit the paint shop in exactly the same order. Those days are long gone, however, and not only has the number of body variants multiplied since then, so has the customer's desire for individualization.
The second-generation application technology for overspray-free painting offers many new degrees of freedom in body design. Initial tests on a small series of the BMW M4 were positive - the series launch at the Bavarian car manufacturer is still scheduled for 2022.
A large-volume cabin divided into several painting zones with intelligently controlled air ducts allows the Upper Austrian steel constructor M-Tron simultaneous and flexible painting and drying as well as a better energy balance. The Eham joinery was also able to sustainably improve its processes with the concept.
Achieving the prescribed slip resistance with hand-applied coating systems can be a challenge. Industrially applied UV coating systems, on the other hand, combine economy with reproducibility.
Wherever parts move, friction occurs and energy is lost. Bonded coatings not only reduce friction, they also protect against wear and corrosion. At the same time, ever stricter legal guidelines increase the requirements for approved lubricants and demand new technical solutions from manufacturers.
First Powder Symposium Dresden since the lockdown: Despite the more difficult framework conditions due to the pandemic, around 220 participants came to Dresden to find out about current developments in the industry.
