We welcome all contributions for oberflaeche.de. To ensure that we can publish your submissions on our website as smoothly as possible, we have put together a few tips. The guidelines for the print magazine are available on request. For news submissions, our guidelines apply at the bottom of this page. It should be as concise as possible (usually no longer than 40 characters). Its task is to arouse the reader's curiosity and to ensure good keywording in the search engines. This headline-like headline is supplemented by an explanatory, somewhat longer sub-headline.

It leads the reader to the topic, should arouse his attention, so incentive to read bsein. Short sentences are preferable, maximum 350 characters.

Short (maximum 20 words) and complete sentences are also desired here. Use lists and keywords very sparingly! The text should be based on a logical structure (red thread) that guides the reader and brings him or her closer to all important aspects step by step. The text should be structured by logical paragraphs to ensure a good reading flow. Marketing language or advertising jargon should not be used in a technical article -- the technical information is always in the foreground. Please write the text according to the rules of the new German spelling!

All manuscripts should be sent as a file by e-mail (format: Word, Libre/Open-Office or Ascii texts without pagination, no PDF). Please do not use formatting - our editorial system requires unformatted continuous text. Do not include images or tables in the text! Rather, these must be submitted as separate files (one per image).

Text length: An ideal technical article for a website comprises a maximum of about 5000 characters. Longer texts require scrolling too far down, the page becomes reader-unfriendly. Longer contributions are therefore only desired in exceptional cases and would have to be spread over several individual pages.

Single-line subheadings additionally structure the text and attract the reader's attention. The subheadings are to be understood as highlighting information given in the text, i.e. not as structuring the text into chapters.

Only JPG and GIF formats can be accepted (not suitable are e.g. Corel Draw, Power Point and PDF files). Images must be in web resolution at 72 dpi and must not be too large (a typical image width would be 450 pixels). At least two graphs, charts, or images should be included for each entry, including a lead image, which must be submitted in 800 x 450 pixel, 72 dpi, 16:9 format. Please number them consecutively if they are referenced in the text as an explanatory aid! Please attach all images as a separate appendix to the manuscript, i.e. do not include them in the manuscript!

For each image, graph, and table, a numbered caption (as short as possible, typically less than 40 characters) should be included at the end of the manuscript text. This should include the image credit, i.e. its source. In the case of third-party images, please be sure to clarify the rights of use beforehand! With the submission you declare that you have the corresponding rights of use.

Title, first name, last name, place. For biographies and portraits additionally: year of birth, course of studies, professional career (most important stations), current function in the company / institute with postal address, e-mail and internet address.

Indicate in the text in square brackets, i.e.: [1], [2], [3] ... References at the end of the text: also numbered, author, title, publisher, edition, page references, year of publication ...

For submissions to our online news, our instructions apply mutatis mutandis. As a special feature, please note the changed text lengths: Headline max. 30 characters, lead-in (teaser) max. 250 characters, body text max. 1400 characters. An image is required for each news item: GIF/JPG, 800 x 450 pixels, 72 dpi, format 16:9.
