For six weeks, the focus was on young people, their prospects and mechanical engineering in a wide variety of activities designed to inspire enthusiasm for technology.

June 6 marked the end of the "Weeks of Technology" launched by the German Engineering Federation VDMA on April 28. During these six weeks, the focus was on young people, their prospects and mechanical and plant engineering throughout Germany.

Many different offers to take part in

The campaign included several thousand career and study guidance offers for young people at 407 company and university locations, more than 240,000 views on TikTok and Instagram, a nationwide school competition with 70 ideas for inventions so far, four excursions for female technology students to companies and a well-attended closing conference. "With the Weeks of Technology, companies and universities wanted to mobilize and inspire - and we succeeded," sums up Dr. Jörg Friedrich, Head of VDMA Education.

Part of a three-year campaign for young talent

The "Weeks of Technology" are part of the three-year young talent campaign "Talentmaschine - Du bewegst Technik. Technology moves the world". On the talentmaschine.de platform, the VDMA bundles activities, best practices and hands-on formats for young people and parents throughout Germany. Together with its Young Talent Foundation for Mechanical Engineering, the VDMA has set itself the goal of generating enthusiasm for careers in technology and supporting its members in securing skilled workers.
