The Saarbrücken-based company SurFunction won the KfW Award for its ELIPSYS technology (Extended Laser Interference Patterning System). In line with the motto "Nature knows best", the company uses this technology to create highly functional and sustainable surfaces. The company, represented by Managing Directors Dominik Britz and Ralf Zastrau, accepted the award at a festive event. With this award, KfW recognizes the innovative strength of founders.
Cross-industry and cross-material platform
Contactless surface functionalization using laser interference technology can be used across all materials. The ELIPSYS technology offers a wide range of possible applications, for example to improve electrical systems, reduce friction, protect against wear, reduce energy requirements or improve biocompatibility.
