The fabric of protective equipment consists of several layers of high-strength and heat-resistant synthetic fibers, which are secured with armor plates made of metal, ceramic or polyethylene to protect against projectiles. Stable workmanship is a fundamental prerequisite for withstanding the toughest operating conditions. Ruderer Klebetechnik GmbH has developed special adhesives with which the various material layers can be bonded together tightly and tear-resistantly. Under the company's own "technicoll" brand, manufacturers of personal protective equipment can find high-quality adhesives in terms of durability and functionality as well as safety and occupational health.
For bonding protective vests, for example, Ruderer has developed the impact-resistant 2-component MMA adhesive technicoll 9413. This special adhesive exhibits high elasticity and guarantees an elongation at break of 50 to 75 percent. Equally flexible is technicoll 9305, a reactive PUR-based hot melt that retains its viscoplastic properties even at low temperatures. This hotmelt adhesive is resistant to liquids, perspiration and chemicals such as irritant gas.
