The new system from Walther Trowal coats three times as many parts per batch as the previous largest system in the series. According to the company, one of the triggers for the development of the new machine was the demand from some contract coaters: they wanted to process large-format flat gaskets in large quantities in the same batch.
Gaskets for e-mobility
An important area of application for Walther Trowal's Rotamats is the coating of O-rings and flat gaskets - for example for sealing the individual cells in battery packs, as well as in fuel cells, engines and gearboxes.
Rotamat for large-format seals
The demand for larger coating systems has increased significantly, particularly among contract coaters, especially for the coating of large-format sealing components, which are installed in the cooling circuits and control units of electric vehicles, for example. This is why the new Rotamat R 100 has a capacity of 160 liters or 100 kilograms. For example, it can coat around 300 sealing rings with a diameter of up to 350 mm or up to 50,000 O-rings per batch. This increases Walther Trowal's job coating capacity by a factor of three compared to its predecessor, the R 85 - with identical time and only slightly higher energy and space requirements.
Use in battery cells or cooling circuits
"Until now, our customers have used the Rotamat for coating O-rings. But with electric vehicles, the focus is increasingly on large, often flat sealing elements made of elastomers for battery cells and cooling circuits with heat exchangers," says Frank Siegel, Sales Manager "Coating Technology" at Walther Trowal.
Suitable for ABS or polyethylene
The new Rotamat is also suitable for the decorative coating of plastic parts - including those made of ABS or polyethylene - as well as for thin-walled metal rings with diameters of up to 300 mm, which are coated with a binder, for example as shaft seals, before elastomers are applied. The company has also expanded the range of applications for the Rotamats for coating sealing elements, for example for applying oils and waxes as well as slow-drying paints.
