800 meters of stainless steel railings are now equipped against wind and weather. Electropolishing gives surfaces special protection.

The construction and design of the "deck", the new beach promenade in Norddeich, took four years - OTG Gronau, a subsidiary of OTH Hagen, was on board. The surface specialist electropolished around 800 meters of stainless steel railings for the extensive promenade area. Thanks to this process, the railings defy the harsh climatic conditions on the North Sea. "The humid and salty atmosphere is extremely corrosive. We have achieved an optimum surface finish by increasing the amount of material removed during electropolishing," says Managing Director Udo Gensowski.

As soon as the 800 meters of railings were delivered, the surface experts took a close look at each part and first removed unusual soiling such as felt-tip pen inscriptions, foil adhesive residues, etc. The quantity and schedule were a challenge. Quantity and schedule were a challenge. "We pulled out all the stops," says Udo Gensowski, who has been running the family business together with his daughter Katharina since this year. The decisive factor for the clients is the effect that electropolishing achieves on stainless steel surfaces: The process reduces micro-roughness by up to 50 percent, thus reducing the formation of deposits. Electrolytically polished surfaces are easy to clean, are visually very appealing and match high-quality designs.
