Materials scientist Katharina Gensowski studied at the Technical University of Ilmenau, almost completed her doctorate at the Fraunhofer Institute ISE Freiburg and is now continuing her career in Hagen. She describes the step from science to practice as an exciting challenge: "In practice, much faster implementation and decision-making times, spontaneity and economic solutions are required. In science, I "only" focused on the technical-scientific aspect. Now - in addition to technical implementation - commercial and legal issues, customer contact, employee management and OTH's external image also play a role."
One of the items on the management agenda is the handling of industry-relevant research projects. In this contract research, OTH is involved in collaborations between several Fraunhofer institutes and industrial partners. Also at the top of the agenda are employee recruitment and training, as well as the training of skilled workers. In the medium term, further machining processes are to be included in OTH's range of services and diversification is to be driven forward. OTH intends to increasingly become a full-range supplier for its customers.
