Inmatec Gase Technologie offers a solution that enables a demand-oriented, energy-efficient and cost-saving nitrogen supply for laser cutting directly on site: the combination of the PNK nitrogen generator and the H2KAT hydrogen catalyst. On-site nitrogen generation significantly reduces operating costs. In addition to the savings in transportation and storage, the costs in the cutting process are also reduced by up to 70 %.

Nitrogen for delicate contours

Nitrogen is usually used as a shielding gas in laser cutting. The colorless and odorless gas prevents the metal at the cutting edge from coming into contact with oxygen, thus ensuring delicate contours and clean cutting edges. However, if the purity of the nitrogen used is too low, the material oxidizes and tarnishing occurs. "The purer the nitrogen, the less post-processing is required and therefore the lower the energy consumption in the machining process," says Stefan Zech, Sales Manager at Inmatec.

Double-filtered cuts better

The mixed double consisting of the PNK nitrogen generator and the H2KAT hydrogen catalytic converter uses a two-stage process to generate the nitrogen on site. First, the PSA system (Pressure Swing Adsorption) IMT PN LASER filters the nitrogen from the ambient air. Then the hydrogen catalyst H2KAT removes the remaining oxygen by converting it into water vapor. This produces high-purity nitrogen with a purity of up to 99.999 % - and with up to 50 % less energy consumption compared to conventional processes. This solution forms the basis for numerous industrial applications and can be expanded with specific applications depending on the industry.
