The very first use of Lukas Erzett's Turbo (SLTT) flap discs reveals a high removal rate, long service life and optimized working comfort. By reducing machine downtimes and increasing productivity, the SLTT flap discs contribute to lower overall costs. Whether for steel work in shipbuilding, on bridges or in the construction of tankers, truck trailers and vehicle parts - the choice of high-quality grinding tools has a positive impact on the cost-benefit balance.
Cost-benefit comparison
The Lukas SLTT flap discs are initially more expensive per unit than conventional roughing or flap discs. However, the actual grinding costs per kilogram of material removed are lower for the Turbo flap discs than for rough grinding wheels and standard flap discs. The Lukas SLTT flap discs in figures:
- With a standard rough grinding wheel for around €1.50, around 1.5 kg of material is removed in a processing time of 44 minutes. The grinding costs are €24.50 per kilogram of material removed.
- With a standard grinding wheel for approx. €2.00, around 0.9 kg of material is removed in a processing time of 16.8 minutes. This means grinding costs of €17.37 per kilogram of material removed.
- With a Lukas SLTT flap disc for approx. €5.00, around 2.4 kg of material is removed in a processing time of 34 minutes. This equates to sanding costs of €12.67 per kilogram of material removed.
The calculation refers to 25 € labor costs/h. All prices are for illustrative purposes only and do not constitute a binding offer.
Fewer tool changes and reduced costs
Frequent tool changes cost material and time. The abrasive flap disc Turbo (SLTT) is characterized by a significantly longer service life compared to conventional grinding discs or standard flap discs. The flat position of the sickle flaps reduces wear. There are a particularly large number of abrasive grains on the outside of the tool, which results in a particularly high removal rate per minute. When the upper flaps wear, fresh abrasive coating is exposed on the flaps below.
