Paint wholesaler Klauss celebrated its 60th anniversary in February together with around 200 customers and 30 exhibitors from the body and paint trade. With the opening of a "Farben- und Tapetenhaus am Stern," company founder Heinrich Landgrebe was the first dealer in Kassel to install a paint mixing system. In 1963, this was a minor sensation. By 1976, the company already had four technical consultants. The cooperation with Axalta goes back to the sixties. Herberts, the paint manufacturer in Wuppertal at the time, was looking for sales partners for the new Standox product. In 1962, Autolack Klauss took over Standox distribution in Kassel. This laid the foundation for a fruitful cooperation.
The customers of the paint dealer appreciate the continuity of the Kassel-based company. Technology changes such as repair systems for two-coat metallics at the end of the sixties, the introduction of waterborne automotive coatings in the eighties and, more recently, the introduction of drying-efficient fillers and clearcoats were all managed together. Within two decades, the company transformed itself into an automotive paint wholesaler that changed its name to Autolack Klauss in the eighties and has operated a branch in Thörey, Thuringia, since 1993.
