ABB is supplying Renault Group with robotics technology that will be used to automate its electric vehicle production network. The orders are part of Renault Group's "Renaulution" transformation strategy. The aim of the strategy is to ensure sustainable profitability. With the order, ABB achieves a consolidation of its position as one of the largest suppliers of manufacturing technologies for electric vehicles within Renault Group. ABB has provided the majority of the 160 units from its portfolio of large robots over the past 24 months. The business partners would not comment on the financial details of the order.
ABB's Robotics division provides technologies for powertrain and battery assembly, body shop, and electric vehicle painting and sealing. The robotic automation solutions for Renault will help increase the production capacity of its electric motor assembly lines in Cléon and Douai, France. At the Douai plant, ABB technology will be used in new advanced body assembly lines that will produce the next generation of electric vehicles.
