REKU Color: Contract manufacturer sets up its own powder coating facility with automatic coating thickness control

The REKU Group is a contract manufacturer with an extensive portfolio in the field of sheet metal, assembly and stainless steel production. The high demand for contract coating for sheet metal and steel parts led to considerable dissatisfaction with the results of the contract powder coating. Both quality and delivery reliability were a problem. As a result, the management decided to set up its own powder coating facility, which would also offer contract coating. An automatic powder booth from MS with a large manual coating area was selected for this purpose. The Coatmaster Flex is used for non-contact, photothermal coating thickness measurement. The Closed Loop coating thickness control system that MS has developed together with Coatmaster is also being used for the first time in practice. The Power & Free conveyor technology comes from Caldan, Afotek acted as general contractor. In the area of pre-treatment, REKU relies on a chrome-free multi-metal pre-treatment system from Alufinish, the system runs wastewater-free through a vacuum evaporator from H20, and an ion exchanger is also used.
