Cleaning, activating and reoxidizing with plasma
Lukas Buske, member of Plasmatreat's Executive Board, will be presenting exciting innovations from the plasma surface technology provider at the trade fair. For example, he will be presenting a plasma pre-treatment system for chip production with double gentry and double lane system for automated underfill or thermal compressed bonding processes. The advantages include better contactability. Cleaning and activation are always carried out. Buske also shows the visually very clearly visible effect of plasma activation and the improvement of wettability through plasma surface technology. Various automated methods for activation and coating were also demonstrated using robots, such as prismatic cells before bonding in the field of e-mobility, or the activation of an LED circuit board before the application of a protective coating. The coating of an electronic circuit board with a conformal coating was also demonstrated. There was also an innovation in the field of power electronics and for the semiconductor sector: the inline reduction of oxides without treatment with citric acid.
New silver graphite coatings and new tribological test stand
At the Schlötter Galvanotechnik stand, Dietmar Stork presented the new silver graphite coatings with a particularly good coefficient of friction of 0.2, which is very constant. The coating systems also offer a low contact resistance that remains constant as they age. Together with its partner iChemAnalytics, Schlötter also presented a tribological test rig for the characterization of spruces, which can also measure the dynamic contact resistance. Kristian Macke presents the test rig in detail in the video.
Modern laser processes: Marking, structuring, cleaning and welding
Dr. Mauritz Möller from Trumpf also gave the mo-TV team a tour of the laser specialist's stand, which was packed with exhibits showing a wide range of laser applications from the electronics industry, including laser welding, laser cutting and laser structuring. The TruMark 1020 femtosecond laser was also on show in a TruMark Station 7000, which can be used not only for very dark surface marking applications, but also for structuring, cutting and cleaning processes. Another exhibit was a green TruDisc 3022 laser, which can weld copper very effectively and with low energy consumption at 3 kW. Possible applications here include so-called busbars, i.e. connecting elements for the battery cells of traction batteries. The laser was installed in a TrueLaser station with cobot automation and inline testing of the welding depth.
Ionized plasma for sensitive applications
Plasma surface technology for atmospheric pre-treatment in the semiconductor sector was presented by Novel. In the video, Managing Director Alexander Wanninger shows the special features of the system technology, which uses a very homogeneous, slightly ionized plasma with argon, similar to that generated and used in vacuum systems. In the atmospheric range, a discharge plasma is otherwise often used.
