Steel processor Wuppermann presented its latest developments in the field of sustainable steel finishing at Blechexpo 2025 in Stuttgart (October 21-24). The focus was on the product WTopCarb, a galvanized hot-rolled strip with a physically reduced CO₂ footprint. According to the company, emissions are less than one tonne of CO₂ equivalent per tonne of galvanized hot-rolled strip. The savings are based on technical measures along the entire value chain that lead to a reduction in emissions.
Corrosion resistance thanks to zinc-magnesium coating
In addition to the CO₂-reduced hot-rolled strip, Wuppermann presented the product WTopCor. The steel strip with a zinc-magnesium-aluminium coating is characterized by increased corrosion resistance. The proportion of around three percent magnesium and 3.3 percent aluminum in the coating improves the protective effect of the material, especially in demanding environments. Typical areas of application include the construction and photovoltaic industries as well as silo and plant construction.
Change in the management board
On October 31, 2025, Carl Swoboda, long-standing Managing Director of Wuppermann's purchasing and sales company, will retire after more than 35 years with the company. Jasmin Niehof has been responsible for flat steel sales at Wuppermann Stahl GmbH since May 2025. From November 1, 2025, she will also take over the management of purchasing and thus the entire operational responsibility in this area.
