Surventis has published its first sustainability report, summarizing its progress in the areas of emissions, energy use, and sustainable solutions. The company reaffirms its 2030 goals in the areas of climate protection, resource efficiency, and safe and sustainable solutions.

Surventis has published its first sustainability report for fiscal year 2025. In it, the provider of coatings and surface solutions compiles key figures and targets across three key areas: climate protection, resource efficiency, and safe and sustainable solutions. The report was prepared voluntarily in accordance with the VSME standard and is based on the company’s first dual materiality analysis.

The focus is primarily on progress regarding operational emissions. Since 2018, Surventis has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and purchased energy—that is, Scope 1 and 2—by 45 percent. The reduction is expected to reach 50 percent by 2030. More than 70 percent of the electricity used globally already comes from renewable sources; the goal is to reach more than 90 percent by 2030. The company also reports an improvement regarding purchased raw materials: The specific CO₂ footprint in Scope 3.1 was reduced by 15 percent; the goal is to reach 20 percent by 2030. Operational energy intensity fell by 26 percent, with a target of 30 percent.

Goals for 2030

Another focus is on the product portfolio. In 2025, 32 percent of revenue in the assessed portfolio came from solutions that make a measurable contribution to sustainability. By 2030, this share is expected to rise to more than 35 percent. According to the company, this includes more than 200 mass-balance products.

Surventis cites the thin-film primer Starbloc as an example of a material-efficient application. It saves about one kilogram of material per vehicle and has been used in more than 1.1 million vehicles since 2021. In addition, the company highlights digital tools and life-cycle analyses designed to identify potential savings along the value chain.

The supply chain is also part of the sustainability goals. By 2030, more than 90 percent of high-risk suppliers are to be assessed and audited according to ESG criteria.

Report in Accordance with the VSME Standard

The sustainability report covers the 2025 fiscal year, during which Surventis was still part of BASF. It is intended to serve as the foundation for future reporting by the now-independent company. Jens Luehring, Chief Executive Officer of Surventis, says: “For us, sustainability and economic success go hand in hand.”

Dr. Markus Piepenbrink, Director of Global Sustainability at Surventis, describes the report as a strategic framework for the coming years: “With our 2030 sustainability goals, we are setting a clear course for this.”
