WSM calls on politicians and society to consider the importance of the products manufactured by WSM industries. "A few weeks more waiting time for a passenger car can be tolerated. But for parts for emergency vehicles, rescue helicopters and medical equipment, the waiting time can cost lives," says WSM CEO Christian Vietmeyer. He also said that independence from fossil fuels stagnates when production of shafts, bearing and gear parts for wind turbines stands still due to gas shortages.
Gas supply therefore needs unrestricted solidarity between protected and unprotected consumer groups, within the industry and between competitors, he said. "Everyone has to do their part: private households have to cut back. Industry must use all potential to save energy and switch to other energy sources. Policymakers must cap the price of electricity and - free of ideology - draw all options to replace natural gas in power generation," Vietmeyer said.
