Seppeler can now also pickle stainless steel: With the takeover of Verzinkerei Oberuzwil AG on January 1, 2025, the Rietberg-based Seppeler Group is further expanding its market presence in Switzerland. The product range of the family-owned company will be expanded to include the new business area of stainless steel pickling. In addition to the 70 employees of the galvanizing plant, the Swiss holding company of the Seppeler Group is taking over 100% of the shares, the entire production facility and infrastructure as well as all customers and orders.
Oberuzwil will be retained
"We are delighted that we can secure jobs and give Verzinkerei Oberuzwil AG a long-term perspective with the sale to the Seppeler Group," emphasizes the previous owner Markus Schneider, who had been looking for a successor.
High-quality stainless steel pickling solutions
"The takeover of the galvanizing plant has many advantages for the Seppeler Group and, above all, our customers," emphasizes Managing Partner Nina Seppeler. "We can now offer high-quality stainless steel pickling solutions for the first time." This solution is particularly interesting for metalworkers and metal fabricators. Stainless steel pickling removes oxide layers and impurities from stainless steel surfaces. This achieves optimum passivation, which protects stainless steel from corrosion. The process also ensures a metallically pure, aesthetically pleasing surface that meets high hygiene standards.
Regionally anchored
"We can even process constructions with a unit weight of up to 20 tons," emphasizes Roger Reifler. The new site manager previously worked as a deputy. Oberuzwil AG's customers include companies from the region, but also from Zurich, St. Gallen and the Rhine Valley.
Investments in technology and sustainability
The Seppeler Group intends to invest in new technologies to make production at the galvanizing plant more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Site manager Roger Reifler is supported in this by Christoph Wasserer, who as Delegate of the Board of Directors is responsible for the integration of the Swiss sites into the Seppeler Group.
