In 2005, an employee of EuroCoin GmbH Galvanik und Ronden founded what is now Saxonia Galvanik. The reason for this was the impending closure of the former EuroCoin electroplating plant. On the occasion of the anniversary, it is worth taking a look back at a long tradition and history dating back to 1612.
Historical facts about the site
Silver mining was revived with the founding of the smelter at the Halsbrücke smelting site. When the Halsbrücke and Muldenhütten smelters merged to form VEB Freiberger Bleihütten in 1961, they were incorporated into the newly founded "Albert Funk" Freiberg mining and smelting combine. The processing plant for precious and non-ferrous metals Halsbrücke was created from the precious metal department, the lead goods factory and the metallurgical area of precious metal recycling.
Construction of the electroplating plant on the Hals estate
After many expansions and realignments, the selective electroplating of precious metals for connectors began in 1972. Due to the development of microelectronics, electroplating became increasingly important. At the end of the seventies, an electroplating plant was built on the site of the former "Halser Gut". And the production site, now part of Saxonia Galvanik, has been retained to this day.
