Nilfisk, a provider of professional cleaning equipment and services, increased its sales in the second quarter of 2022, continuing the positive development from the beginning of the year. At EUR 272.0 million, sales were up 5.5 percent compared to the second quarter of 2021, driven primarily by strong growth in the European professional business. "Demand remained solid and our order book reached an all-time high at the end of the quarter," said Torsten Türling, CEO of Nilfisk. The Americas region also contributed to growth, despite significant supply disruptions as a tornado completely destroyed the U.S. distribution center in late March.
Global markets are facing major challenges such as energy price increases and supply shortages, which are headwinds for most companies. Rising material costs, inflation and continued high freight costs are also impacting Nilfisk's profit margin. These challenges were partially offset by higher sales and price adjustments. EBITDA was EUR 34.5 million in the second quarter of 2022, compared to EUR 37.6 million in the first quarter of 2022.
