The Niedax Group is constructing a new electroplating facility at its largest production site in St. Katharinen. The new facility is intended to replace the existing electroplating site in Bonn and enable the next technological advancement in this area of production.

Electrogalvanizing plays a central role for the company. In the facility, components receive their surface treatment and, as a result, corrosion protection for their future use. With this project, Niedax aims to expand its manufacturing capacity and integrate surface treatment more closely with the rest of its production processes.

New Facility Scheduled for Completion in 2027

The building permit has been in place since mid-May 2026. Completion is scheduled for the end of the second quarter of 2027. The plan calls for 2,700 square meters of facility space, of which approximately 800 square meters will be production space. The investment volume is in the double-digit millions.

The new electroplating facility is designed for “future-proof, efficient, and energy-optimized manufacturing.” Environmental and safety-related processes will be implemented using best available technology (BAT). In this way, the company is combining capacity expansion with requirements for energy efficiency, occupational safety, and modern plant technology.

Production and Shipping Move Closer Together

A key advantage of the new building is its proximity to production and shipping at the St. Katharinen site. This shortens transport routes and allows for better coordination of intralogistics processes. Niedax expects this to result in more robust production structures and closer integration of surface treatment with downstream processes.

The project is also significant for employees. Working conditions are expected to improve significantly with the new building. Construction work will continue in the coming months. The company plans to provide ongoing updates on further milestones and the project’s progress.
