Dr. Philip Bahke succeeds Dr. Daniel Koch, who has left Covestro at his own request. As Head of the Dormagen production site, Bahke succeeds Dr. Susanne Buchholz, who has headed the Covestro site in Antwerp since 1 January. As Head of Performance Materials (PM) Operations NRW, Bahke intends to focus on increasing the reliability and efficiency of production.
Promoting the transformation to climate neutrality
"I am looking forward to this responsible management role in North Rhine-Westphalia. The plants here account for almost 30 percent of Covestro's global production capacity - making them an important lever for the success of the entire company," says Bahke. A key prerequisite for success is working together in strong teams with the goal of safe, reliable and efficient production. He will also be committed to the further transformation towards a circular economy and climate neutrality.
Diverse professional stations at Covestro
Bahke has already held various management positions at Covestro in his almost 20-year career. After studying at the Technical University of Dortmund, Bahke initially joined what was then Bayer Technology Services in Leverkusen in 2005, later moving to Bayer Material Science AG as Senior Expert for Base Isocyanates. In 2013, he went to America, where he worked as a plant manager for three years. After returning to Germany, he took on various management roles at Covestro in Leverkusen over the following eight years. Most recently, Bahke headed up operations for the Elastomers business unit from 2021 to 2024. During this time, he was responsible for plants and facilities in China, Thailand and Europe.
