Micrometer-precise thickness measurement with Polytec measurement technology

Polytec is represented at the Control and Sensor+Test trade fairs with a range of new optical measurement technology products and applications. In addition to a fast device for vibration analysis, Polytec will be exhibiting a terahertz real-time thickness measurement system for automated quality control.

Highlights of Polytec's presence at this year's trade fair are the VibroScan QTec for vibration analysis and the das-nano Irys terahertz real-time thickness measurement system. Integrated into the CAE workflow, the VibroScan QTec can support all steps in the preparation and execution of the measurement, from the simulation model to modal analysis with PolyWave. The non-contact terahertz real-time thickness measurement system from das-Nano offers efficiency and precision in automated processes.

Thickness measurement in quality control

Terahertz systems penetrate deep into materials without damaging them and provide precise data on layer thickness, material homogeneity or hidden defects. The Irys system from das-Nano is frequently used for quality control in car body painting. It enables measurements with an accuracy of up to one micrometer for up to five different layers.

For material-independent measurements

In order to ensure efficiency and precision in car body painting, non-destructive technologies are required that enable material-independent measurements of the layer structure for reliable quality control. Irys terahertz measuring systems meet these requirements one hundred percent and can also be integrated into automated, robot-assisted processes.
