The Hyperloop is a means of transport currently under development that will race through a vacuum tube at speeds of up to 1,250 kilometers per hour in the future. A team from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) won the prize for the fastest capsule. It reached a top speed of 482 kilometers per hour. This breakthrough led to the first European test track in Ottobrunn near Munich.
Network of tubes
The TUM team's system consists of a network of tubes with a diameter of around four meters, a passenger module and an operations control center complete with control system and vacuum pumps. The tubes are fitted with light diffusers that use LEDs to provide uniform illumination. There is also LED lighting on the outer edges of the passenger capsule.
Light diffusers bonded with high-performance MMA adhesive
The decisive factor in the decision to attach the striking, slightly curved light strips with technicoll 9414 adhesive from Ruderer was that this high-performance adhesive forms a transparent bond line and does not impair the appearance. The bonded joints are seamless with the plastic surfaces and support the soft lighting effect. Thanks to its good flexibility, excellent adhesive strength and high temperature and media resistance, technicoll 9414 also extends the service life and durability of the light diffusers, even at high speeds.
