The UV specialist Hönle offers tailor-made drying solutions for the surface treatment of wood, fiber and plastic boards. The modular delivery concept offers system manufacturers and users planning security and flexibility.

In addition to the coating of real wood, UV and LED-UV drying systems from Hönle are also used in the production of surfaces with a wood look and feel. A complex production process is required to achieve these realistic effects. The wood effect is created layer by layer in numerous individual steps. Plastic or fiberboard, for example HDF or MDF, is usually used for this. The blanks pass through several printing, coating and processing stations on conveyor belts, the number of which varies depending on the requirements and design of the end product. Most of them use UV or LED-UV systems for intermediate or final drying, either partially or over the entire surface. The curing units, which are usually air-cooled or air/water-cooled, are permanently integrated into the individual stations of the production system, with external power supply and control.

Simplification of the ordering and delivery process

In addition to the tried and tested system, Hönle offers a new, modular concept. This not only simplifies the ordering and delivery process, but also offers the machine manufacturer planning security and maximum flexibility in application. This also means that the production system can be expanded at a later date with additional UV modules, which can be freely positioned in the processing chain. This means that future adjustments to production speed and product design can be easily implemented.

Customized complete system

A lamp housing is supplied in the desired length and required output as well as a doped UV lamp adapted to the process. Hönle supplies a standardized mounting plate, equipped with an electronic ballast (power range 12 - 34 kW in 0.5 kW steps) for installation in the control cabinet system. Communication between the higher-level control system and the UV system takes place via bus (Profi-NET).

Hönle exhibits at the LIGNA

At LIGNA 2025, Hönle will be exhibiting a selection of its conventional UV and LED UV curing systems (in Hall 017, Stand A41). They all cure lacquers, printing inks and coatings in fractions of a second. UV systems are environmentally friendly because UV-curing inks and coatings are solvent-free.
