From November 24 to 26, 2025, eleven young professionals competed at the Technology Center of the main sponsor PPG in Hilden for the German Championship of Automotive Painters. The three competition tasks placed high demands on precision, process understanding and creative power. For example, a damaged mudguard had to be repaired and given a three-color design, a door was given a multi-colored paint job with decorative stripes and a miniature car model had to be creatively designed in the style of PPG's "MoonWalk" color mixing system.
Results and reactions
After two days of competition, Elena Artmann from Leiblfing impressed with a consistently strong overall performance and became German Champion 2025. Second place went to Nelly Edler from Saxony, followed by Stefanie Rommel from Hesse. The German Association of Automotive Painters praised the high quality of the work and the commitment of all participants. PPG pointed out the impressive combination of precision, creativity and mutual support within the junior team.
Importance for the next generation of vehicle painters
The competition demonstrates the high level of training and performance of young professionals in the vehicle painting sector. In addition to technical skills, design expertise, process knowledge and modern paint systems are playing an increasingly important role.
