22-year-old Isabell Masannek from North Rhine-Westphalia came out on top against strong competition at the German Painting and Varnishing Championships 2025. For three days, young talents put their craftsmanship to the test in Münster.

From November 10 to 12, 2025, the best young painters and decorators competed against each other at Brillux in Münster. Technical skills, precision and creativity were required for six tasks: Wallpapering, painting in different colors, a given design motif as well as a speed competition and a free design task demanded a wide range of skills from the participants.

Results and design prize

With a consistently strong overall performance, Isabell Masannek from Rietberg won the title of "German Painting and Varnishing Champion 2025". Richard Barsch from Saxony came second and Jonas Schneegans from Lower Saxony came third. Isabell Masannek also received the special "Good Form" award for her design concept, which featured a cyclist in light blue against a dark background and the lettering "Münster".

Appreciation for young talent in the industry

At the award ceremony, representatives of the skilled trades emphasized the high quality of the entries. The participants had shown the potential of young talent and the versatility of the painting and decorating trade. The organizers see this as an important impulse for the recruitment of young talent and the attractiveness of skilled trade training.

National team prospects

The next step for the two winners and one other young talent is to be selected for the national painting team. There, the young skilled workers will prepare for international competitions such as EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf.
