Fusion Bionic uses an ultra-fast laser process to transfer natural principles such as the lotus effect to technical surfaces. The finest micro- and nanotextures create functional surfaces that open up innovative approaches in semiconductor technology, photovoltaics, glass and the automotive industry. Photovoltaic modules, for example, become self-cleaning, heat exchangers more energy-efficient and textiles water-repellent.
Process without harmful chemicals
The Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) process used by Fusion Bionic works up to 100 times faster than conventional methods. This means that costly and environmentally harmful processes such as chemical etching or sandblasting can increasingly be replaced. Companies benefit from increased resource efficiency, reduced CO₂ emissions and sustainable production.
Successful start-up
Fusion Bionic was founded in April 2021 by a team led by Dr. Tim Kunze. Just two months after its foundation, the start-up was accepted into the renowned Heraeus Accelerator Program. Since then, it has established itself as a technology partner for global companies and has received several international awards, including the "Ray of Hope Prize" from the Biomimicry Institute as one of the best start-ups inspired by nature.
