Dr. Oliver Tiedje took over the management of the "Coatings and Multifunctional Materials" business unit at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA at the beginning of July 2024. As part of a new structure at the IPA, this business unit will combine project responsibility for coating technology and materials development.
Networking expertise from robotics and AI
Tiedje previously headed the Wet Application and Simulation Technology group. Dr. Martin Metzner and Dr. Michael Hilt head the "Surface Processes, Technology and Materials" research area. The new organizational structure will increasingly link expertise from other areas of the IPA with coating technology, such as robotics, artificial intelligence and sustainability.
