The new generation of the ZAplus fan unit from Ziehl-Abegg has won the Plus X Award in the categories of innovation, high quality, ease of use, functionality and ecology. With the further development of the ZAplus system, Ziehl-Abegg has been able to significantly reduce noise emissions and energy consumption. "In many cases, this means that additional sound insulation is no longer necessary and noise limits can be easily complied with," explains Joachim Ley, CEO of Ziehl-Abegg. Quiet and efficient ventilation solutions are particularly important for operators of industrial re-cooling systems or supermarkets.
Nature as a role model
The technical innovations are based on findings from bionics: the serrated rear edge of the fan blades - inspired by the silent flight technology of the owl - reduces air turbulence and therefore noise emissions. A newly developed wavy leading edge, based on the structures of marine life, ensures optimized airflow. The result: a noticeable noise reduction of up to four dB(A).
Low energy requirement thanks to refined guide wheel
The optimized design also increases energy efficiency. The refined guide vane with 18 instead of 11 struts and the aerodynamically optimized intermediate ring help to reduce energy consumption by up to nine percent. The material adaptation - an aluminum rotor with high-strength plastic blades - further improves performance.
