Materials manufacturer Covestro has entered into a partnership with China's leading automotive lighting manufacturer Hasco Vision. The companies are working to ensure that recycled plastics used in headlights are of high quality and can be traced back.

As a long-standing partner of Hasco Vision, Covestro has been supplying the Chinese company with polycarbonates for automotive headlights for many years. Under the agreement, Covestro will also work with other recycling industry partners to recover used plastics from Hasco's production facilities. These will then be converted into high-quality post-industrial recycled (PIR) polycarbonates and polycarbonate blends for the production of new automotive components.

"In line with Covestro's circular vision, we are very excited to collaborate with Hasco Vision," said Lily Wang, head of Covestro's Engineering Plastics segment. "This collaboration breaks conventions in terms of raw material supply by focusing on the use of post-industrial recycled materials to create a circular economy," says Jinlong Ao, deputy general manager and chief technology officer of Hasco Vision.
