The Aquair standard of the Pirmasens Testing and Research Institute (PFI) is awarded if the product, its ingredients and its manufacturing process are demonstrably vegan and not of animal origin. Compliance with the criteria is checked by the institute, confirmed by laboratory tests if necessary and checked regularly.
Vegan and sustainable
Covestro's microporous PU system is based on the aqueous Insqin technology. "Insqin technology requires up to 95% less water and 50% less energy than conventional manufacturing processes in the production of coated textiles," says Dr. Torsten Pohl, Head of Global Textile Coatings at Covestro. In combination with the technologies from Trans-Textil, artificial leather with high wearing comfort was created.
Topaz membrane systems
In addition to textile carrier materials, the developers also tested waterproof, breathable Topaz membrane systems based on polyurethane (PU) and polyester (PES), so that there is a great deal of freedom in product design.
