The electroplating industry is regularly startled by anode thefts, sometimes resulting in considerable financial and material damage. For the first time in many years without a recorded case, an electroplating plant in the Märkischer Kreis district was broken into again on the night of February 11-12, 2024. However, the thieves were disturbed and prevented from removing the loot: While three burglars were able to escape, one burglar was apprehended and arrested by the police. Nevertheless, considerable material damage was caused.
On this current occasion, the ZVO reminded people to regularly check their individual security precautions, especially before and during long weekends, to increase them if necessary and to be more vigilant towards unknown visitors. If possible, license plates of unknown vehicles should be noted and unknown or suspicious persons should be asked for their identity card.
