Many employees in industry, trade and the service sector come into contact with hazardous substances in their day-to-day work. In order to make practical improvements visible, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS), with the support of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA), is awarding the German Hazardous Substance Protection Prize for the 16th time in 2026. The award is endowed with 10,000 euros.
Solutions sought for the safe handling of hazardous substances
Ideas, processes or practical assistance that reduce risks when handling hazardous substances can be submitted. The focus is primarily on implementations that offer added value for everyday operations and can be transferred to other companies.
Participation from various sectors possible
Individuals, teams, organizations and companies can apply. The main focus is on players from the recycling and circular economy, the construction industry, the chemical industry, the wood and metal industry as well as transport and logistics. The closing date for entries is March 31, 2026. Applications should be sent by email to gefahrstoffschutzpreis@baua.bund.de
The BAuA provides a call for entries and an application form. Both documents contain requirements and information on the participation process.
