Bitzer invests in resource-saving paint shop

With this investment, the specialist for refrigeration and air conditioning technology is once again improving sustainability at its Rottenburg-Ergenzingen site. Bitzer has already received the "Sindolf" sustainability award for its commitment.

Bitzer, a specialist in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technology, is investing in sustainability and the future of its Rottenburg-Ergenzingen site with a new paint shop and the associated new building. The resource-saving system is scheduled to go into operation in the course of 2026. Bitzer will further improve quality and resource efficiency with the technology used. "When planning the new paint shop, we set ourselves the goal of reducing the use of resources per product by more than 20 percent," says Kai Schuppler, Vice President Fulfillment EMEA and Plant Manager of the Rottenburg-Ergenzingen site.

Resource-saving system

The fully automated painting operation reduces the amount of paint used. The system uses the waste heat generated in the plant for the painting processes. The electricity comes from our own and natural resources. By switching to a dry spray wall with rotating brushes, up to 90 percent fewer filters are disposed of. The paint shop is equipped with an exhaust air purification system with an adsorption wheel for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can reduce VOC emissions by 87% with the help of regenerative afterburning. The exhaust air purification system does not require any additional heating energy for this, as it processes the exhaust air from the paint booths, evaporation zones and paint dryers in such a way that autothermal operation is possible.

Sindolf sustainability award

Bitzer is working at its sites in Sindelfingen, Rottenburg-Ergenzingen and Rottenburg-Hailfingen to achieve climate compensation by 2030. The company has already received the "Sindolf" sustainability award for its commitment. The sites already generate up to 90 percent of the electricity they require each year using a mix of different energy sources.
