Evonik Coating Additives is launching new biosurfactants specifically for coating and printing ink formulations. The two new products Tego Wet 570 Terra and Tego Wet 580 Terra are characterized by their high performance and sustainability profile.
Compatible for aquatic organisms
The new biosurfactants are produced using a special fermentation process and consist of 100 percent renewable raw materials. They have a low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC), are biodegradable and compatible with aquatic organisms. This makes Tego Wet 570 Terra and Tego Wet 580 Terra suitable for aqueous paint and varnish formulations. With the patented, fermentative process for the production of rhamnolipids, Evonik has succeeded in producing biosurfactants on an industrial scale. The rhamnolipids are produced in a biotechnological process from renewable raw materials based on corn.
Shorter grinding time
The new products enable rapid wetting of pigments and fillers, shorten the grinding time in the dispersing process and reduce energy consumption.
