As an alternative to electrogalvanizing, Benseler's zinc flake coating offers effective corrosion protection for threaded bolts and screws in larger diameters and lengths.

With zinc flake coating, Benseler offers an alternative to processes such as electrogalvanizing. In contrast to conventional galvanizing processes, the specific lamellar structure of the coating ensures that it reacts very slowly to corrosion, even in the event of damage. Galvanic zinc coatings, on the other hand, are often susceptible to corrosion after a short time if damaged. Because the zinc flake is not applied electrolytically, there is also no risk of hydrogen embrittlement. The zinc flake coating process significantly reduces the risk of brittle fracture, particularly in the case of high-strength fasteners. Another advantage is the low coating thickness.

Protection for screws on wind turbines

Threaded bolts with diameters of up to 42 mm and lengths of between 500 mm and 1,200 mm are used to fasten the rotor blades on wind turbines. Benseler applies the zinc flake coating here with a layer thickness of 15 μm, yet the bolts are still salt spray resistant for up to 2,000 hours in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227.

Reliable screw connections for e-trucks

Bolts with lengths of up to 1,400 mm and a diameter of 14 - 18 mm ensure stability in the battery boxes of e-trucks. In addition to maximum corrosion protection thanks to zinc flakes, Benseler also guarantees resistance to mechanical loads and chemicals such as organic solvents, oils or greases as well as continuous temperature resistance up to 200 °C. In timber construction, durable connecting elements ensure safe structures.

Highly effective even at low layer thicknesses

As it is highly effective even at a low layer thickness, zinc flake coating is a resource-saving process. It can be applied in bulk or in racks, either by spraying or by dip-spinning.
