BASF has invested a mid double-digit million euro amount in the new alcoholates plant in Ludwigshafen. This will replace the existing production plant and is expected to go into operation in the second half of 2027.
Future-oriented production process
"We are investing in an efficient, integrated and future-oriented production process. Our priority is to continue to be a reliable supplier of alcoholates for our customers in the future," says Dr. Ramkumar Dhruva, Head of the Monomers division at BASF.
Supporting the demand for biodiesel
Alkoxides are used as catalysts and feedstocks in various industries, mainly in the production of biodiesel and for applications in pharmaceuticals and crop protection. Thus, the investment supports the growing market for life science products and the continuous demand for biodiesel.
