"Let's go green now!" - this was the motto under which the B+T group of companies launched its campaign to achieve its climate targets at the end of last year. In this context, the company's own commitments for climate-neutral production are more ambitious than the legal requirements.

In mid-July, the kickoff for the implementation of the sustainability strategy took place with the managers of the Wetzlar and Hüttenberg sites. Plan A provides for measures to optimize machinery and technology. These include steps that go hand in hand with investments, such as switching to renewable energy sources for in-house use, purchasing sustainable vehicles for transporting goods, etc.

In order to create awareness of the upcoming changes within the company, employees will be sensitized to the topic in training sessions and involved in the respective processes in working groups. The management level will develop contingency plans for the changed environmental and general conditions. These plans are to come into play in various worst-case scenarios, for example if water becomes scarce, the infrastructure is destroyed, skilled workers are lacking or dependencies on third parties lead to production stoppages.
