aNIR heating booster from Adphos controls steel quality

In a thin-strip plant of an American steel company, a Castrip system was upgraded with an aNIR heating booster. This significantly improved the product quality.

Thanks to the high power density of the aNIR heating booster, which can be up to 1,600 kW/m², and the heating power, which can be adjusted locally across the bandwidth at intervals of 15 mm, the temperature distribution is defined, controlled and fully automated. The production speed is up to 150 m/min. The heating booster is able to set a homogeneous temperature distribution by correcting impurities before the quenching rollers.

Robust aNIR design for extreme environments

The system could be implemented at the steel manufacturer thanks to its robust aNIR design. It can be used in extremely confined spaces and at ambient temperatures of up to 350 °C as well as in unavoidable local contamination.

Thermal process solutions also for surface coatings

Adphos offers further high-performance thermal process solutions for heating and drying processes, but also for surface coatings in the steel sector.
