Many dryers in printing and coating plants are operated with fossil fuels, usually even with gas. Large plants represent high energy consumption (natural gas). Due to their function, they release larger quantities ofCO2. In addition, there are cost increases due to the gas supply situation, which has become incalculable due to the current situation. The Adphos Group, a specialist in electrothermal drying and crosslinking systems, is replacing gas dryers and hot air ovens with aLITE drying systems.
The aLITE technology enables ultra-fast (< 1 sec.) drying of aqueous and solvent-based coatings, paint systems and impregnations with minimal heating of the substrate materials. aLITE is based on a powerful photonic energy source in combination with integrated hot air, impingement ventilation and defined moisture absorption. Energy savings of 50 percent to over 70 percent compared to gas-fired drying systems are achievable due to the highly dynamic, defined controllable drying power adjustment to the current coatings. The start/stop capability eliminates the need for longer preheating cycles.
