The story of Grönenbacher Lackfabrik began 50 years ago in Bad Grönenbach-Thal with a 500 m² hall, two founders and two employees. Today, the second-generation family business run by Gerd Gropper and Christian Viandt produces over 5,000 tons of industrial coatings annually for medium-sized and large companies in a wide range of industries in Germany and abroad. The Gropper and Viandt families from Unterallgäu celebrated the company's 50th anniversary together with their 100 employees at the e-con-Park in Memmingen.
Start of the founding story
Theo Viandt and Heiner Gropper had been employed in management positions at Lackfabrik Schatz in Wolfertschwenden for around 15 years in the early 1970s when they were offered a stake in a paint factory. In 1973, Lackfabrik Haas in Dinkelsbühl brought Theo Viandt into the company as a partner for production and Heiner Gropper for sales. On January 1, 1975, the second Farben Haas & Co. site was founded in the Bad Grönenbach-Thal industrial estate. The company parted company with Haas by mutual agreement. Heiner Gropper and Theo Viandt were now solely responsible for their company.
Economic success
The biggest economic boost for GV-Lacke came after the turn of the millennium. "The enactment of the VOC Regulation in 1999 was like a catalyst for us," explains Gerd Gropper. Since then, GV-Lacke has been supplying major customers in the commercial vehicle, steel, machine and container construction sectors.
