At the beginning of the Ebbinghaus company there was a scissors hardening shop. This was geared to the needs of the Solingen cutlery industry and was quickly expanded to include surface protection for Solingen products. Box knives and scissors were dipped by hand in black asphalt varnish or painted with a brush and sprayed. Soon the range grew to include surface protection for bicycle and motorcycle frames and rims as well as lawn mower parts.
In the meantime, the company has grown into Ebbinghaus Verbund Management- und Dienstleistungs GmbH. It comprises the headquarters in Solingen plus the R&D technical center and the production plants Oftec Oberflächentechnik in Hagenbach and Ebbinghaus Styria Coating GmbH in Graz. The coating specialist serves customers from a wide range of industries and offers services in the fields of cathodic dip coating, powder coating, wet painting, duplex processes, galvanizing, and cleaning and paint stripping.
