Improving the pre-treatment of car bodies
Abstract
Thanks to a new system design, the construction of a flexible and scalable wet system for the pre-treatment of car bodies requires significantly less space and time than conventional dip tanks. The system saves energy and materials and is particularly suitable for small to medium production capacities.

One process step when vehicles are painted is pre-treatment. It takes up a lot of space, as the tanks for basic cleaning and dip painting are designed for the respective body dimensions and the longest process times. Dürr has developed a modular pre-treatment system that can be adapted to medium and small capacities. The new system design provides for compact chambers instead of extensive basins. Depending on the process step, these are either flooded or designed as spray chambers. All parts of the system have a modular design so that they can be adapted to the conditions.
