One of the most important requirements for temporary corrosion protection is to ensure trouble-free heat treatment, especially in thermodiffusion processes. Low application concentrations are generally required, as well as freedom from phosphorus, silicon and fluorine, especially in high-purity applications. The multimetal capability of the corrosion inhibitor is also important, since production is often carried out in mixed processes. Likewise, the product must be stable in the various applications, e.g. spraying, high-pressure, ultrasonic, CNP, PPC, etc.

In addition, depending on the application, there are specific requirements such as, in particular, freedom from foam or, in the case of robot-assisted cleaning processes, protection against corrosion even in the vapor phase. If necessary, compatibility, e.g. with subsequent VCI packaging, or problem-free further processing, for example by overpainting or welding, is relevant. In general, the corrosion protection should be easily removable if required.
