Curing paints and varnishes with UV light is a fast and energy-efficient method of cross-linking reactive paint and varnish systems. UV curing is also used in surface coating.
With the patented FREEcure UV system, IST METZ and BASF SE have developed a new type of cross-linking technology. This is based on an increase in the UVC component in the spectrum of a UV lamp and offers the possibility of dispensing with photoinitiators, inertization and electron beams
Proven BLK technology
Compared to conventional UV systems, FREEcure offers a high increase in drying performance. FREEcure enables an increase in performance of more than 70% in the process-relevant spectral range.
Among other things, the plasmas inside the UV lamp have been adapted to generate short-wave radiation and the materials for the UV lamp and reflector have been optimized.
Reactivity without initiator
FREEcure is not only suitable for 100 % UV systems, but also for aqueous UV systems. In addition to VOC reduction or VOC avoidance (Volatile Organic Compounds), the process impresses with high production speeds, low space requirements and high mechanical and chemical resistance.
