The Dürr Group is heading for incoming orders of around EUR 5 billion in the current year and thus towards the upper end of its target range. Thanks to high investment by the automotive industry in sustainable painting technology, incoming orders also reached a good level in the third quarter at EUR 1.2 billion. In total, orders worth EUR 4 billion were received in the first nine months. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 14.0%.
Sales growth thanks to BBS Automation
Sales rose by 4.3% to EUR 3.4 billion, although the Homag subgroup recorded declines as expected due to the weak furniture and construction industry. The automation specialist BBS Automation, which was acquired at the end of August 2023, also contributed to the increase in order intake and sales in the Group. The EBIT margin before special items was 5.2% after the first nine months and therefore in the middle of the annual target corridor (4.5 to 6.0%). Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, CEO of Dürr AG: "From today's perspective, we will certainly achieve all our targets for the year despite the challenging environment."
Europe sustainability pioneer
The focus of the high level of investment in energy-efficient automotive painting systems was Europe. "Painting often accounts for almost fifty percent of the energy required for automotive construction. With new technologies, we enable significant reductions and a smaller ecological footprint," says Dürr CEO Weyrauch.
Mixed industry development
Homag's incoming orders rose by 6.5% after falling by almost a third in the first nine months of 2023. However, a real recovery in business with furniture and timber house manufacturers is not yet noticeable. Environmental and battery production technology (Clean Technology Systems) was just able to confirm the previous year's order intake. Automation technology (Industrial Automation Systems) grew strongly due to the inclusion of BBS Automation, which was acquired last year.
