Dürr China opened its doors from November 12 to 15 for Open House 2024, a customer event that was last held seven years ago. More than 700 guests from China, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Japan attended the event.

The four-day open house showcased advances in automotive painting and final assembly as well as innovations in painting, bonding and environmental technology for various industries. Dürr China, a company with nearly 1,200 employees, has so far (end of 2023) completed over 100 turnkey projects for automotive painting and final assembly in China, generating CNY 3.3 billion.

Paint shop of the future

The "Paint shop of the future" concept was presented at the event. This breaks with traditional line layouts by dividing industrial automotive painting into boxes or short process sections. This includes the EcoProBooth, which enables both interior and exterior painting of vehicle bodies in the same booth, the central high-bay warehouse, the EcoProFleet driverless transport system and Dürr's intelligent DXQ software product family. The EcoPaintJet Pro also contributes to the adaptation of painting processes. It enables the fully automatic painting of cars in two colors without overspray. With the EcoBell4 rotary atomizer, a particularly fast colour change is possible with the lowest possible loss of paint and rinsing agent. This results in faster cycle times, higher capacities and lower VOC emissions. The participants were able to experience all the systems live.

The future of final assembly

The final assembly concept "NEXT.assembly of the future" was also presented, which breaks away from the traditional arrangement used in the automotive industry. With five innovations, including the ProLiner, Dürr's AGC (Automated Guided Carrier) and the x-combined all-in-one test bench, Dürr offers a flexible, modular and scalable layout that is independent of specific building requirements. On the last day of the Open House, the focus was on industrial painting and gluing technologies as well as Dürr's environmental technology.
