Who didn't play with excavators, cranes and other miniature construction machines with great dedication as a child? If you are still fascinated by such machines today, you should definitely treat yourself to a visit to Bauma. After four years, this massive trade fair is now taking place again for the first time from October 24 to 30 in Munich - and the crowds are huge. Even during the week, the halls with the large machines in particular were literally besieged. Selfies in front of a massive dump truck, amazed looks at the gigantic engines - not everyone who visits Bauma needs a new XXL dump truck for their open pit mine. But the technology is fascinating. And above all, it is striking how high-quality the surfaces have become, even in the area of such construction machinery. Whether it's the frame or the engine, even on the biggest vehicles you really have to look with a magnifying glass for surface defects. And on the open-air exhibition grounds, you could see right away what these surfaces have to endure in operation. Larger manufacturers in particular had set up their own arenas in which dredging, pushing and tipping took place for the spectators. It is really amazing to see how a three-axle large dump truck performs a kind of choreography with other excavators and wheel loaders in a very confined space and overcomes even larger piles of earth with extreme twisting, which his small 50 HP excavator colleague had neatly piled up for him beforehand.
And despite the troubled times we are currently going through economically and politically, it is good to see that some things are still the same and work the way they used to.
