The shortage of skilled workers and declining numbers of applicants are posing increasing challenges for many companies in the electroplating and surface technology sector. Against this backdrop, the German Surface Technology Association (ZVO) is calling on its member companies to participate in Girls' Day 2026. The nationwide campaign day will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and is aimed at female students aged 13 to 17.
Support from the Female SurFaces women's network
In preparation for Girls' Day 2026, the ZVO women's network Female SurFaces has developed a support concept. The plan is to create a "Girls' Day package" that includes information materials, program ideas, and communication modules, among other things. The aim is to enable companies to implement the action day in a structured and practical manner. In addition, Female SurFaces is available as a contact for organizational and content-related questions.
Recruiting young talent for technical apprenticeships
In parallel with approaching companies, Female SurFaces itself wants to actively approach schools. The focus is on the training occupations of surface coater and process mechanic for coating technology. The approach is supported by information materials and the use of female role models from the industry.
Registration via central platform
Registration for Girls' Day takes place via the nationwide platform girls-day.de. Companies can post their offers there and adjust or add to them later if necessary. To register, information about the company, the program schedule, the target group, and the number of available places is required, among other things.
